Who We Are

TeslaCharger is an independent comparison and information website that helps UK Tesla owners find home chargers and installation services. We are not affiliated with Tesla, Inc.

What Data We Collect

We collect personal data only when you voluntarily submit it through our quote request form. This includes:

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Your preferred first contact route
  • Postcode and selected address
  • Property status and parking type
  • Your charger preference, including “No preference yet”
  • Any EV, vehicle, tariff, grant or annual-mileage preferences already supplied in the site journey

An unfinished modal-form draft stays in React memory only so it can survive closing the modal or moving between pages. It is not written to local or session storage and disappears on a full reload.

How We Use Your Data

We use your personal data to:

  • Route your request to up to three installation partners whose recorded coverage includes your postcode
  • Send the selected contact details and property context needed to prepare the installation response you requested
  • Respond to any queries related to your quote request

We do not use your data for unsolicited marketing. We do not sell your data. We share it only with the installation partners selected to fulfil your quote request.

Legal Basis for Processing

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), we rely on legitimate interest as the lawful basis for sharing your details with our installation partners. The processing is necessary to deliver the service you actively request when you submit the quote form — matching you with installers who can quote you.

You can object to this processing at any time by emailing privacy@teslacharger.co.uk, and we will stop processing your data and ask our partners to do the same. We’ve documented our Legitimate Interest Assessment internally; happy to share it on request.

Sharing Your Details with Installation Partners

When you submit the quote form, we forward your name, postcode, full address, email, phone number, preferred first contact route, property status, parking type, charger preference and relevant journey context to up to three installation partners covering your area. Your preference tells those partners whether to email or phone first; both contact details are included. This is the only purpose for which your data is shared with those partners.

We agree contractual terms with each installation partner covering data handling, retention, and your right to request deletion. We never share your details with installers we haven’t partnered with, and we never sell your data.

We also use Resend to deliver email confirmations and Web3Forms as a backup form processor. Both are sub-processors under contract; neither uses your data for their own purposes.

Affiliate Links

Some product links, currently including selected Amazon links, are affiliate links. When you follow one and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. These links are labelled “affiliate”. Ordinary manufacturer and retailer links do not earn us a commission and are not described as sponsored. Commercial relationships do not affect our reviews, comparisons, or ranking positions. Affiliate partners may use cookies to track referrals.

Cookies

Cloudflare Zaraz is used to load Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity so we can understand page performance and journey completion. Those services may use cookies or similar identifiers according to the consent and configuration shown on the site. Analytics events may include a page path, CTA location and non-personal charger or tariff slug so we can see which content leads to a quote request. We do not send names, email addresses, phone numbers, postcodes, postal addresses, URL query strings or raw search queries in analytics events. Affiliate sites may set their own cookies after you follow a link; their privacy policies then apply.

Data Retention

We keep the routing audit needed to record which installation partner received a request and whether delivery succeeded. Email and form-processing providers retain submitted messages under their own contracted retention controls. You can ask us to delete your personal data earlier at any time; we will also pass that request to the relevant installation partners.

Your Rights

Under the UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to, or ask us to restrict, processing based on legitimate interests
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO)
