NexBlue Point 2 — product shot

NexBlue publishes ISO 15118 and OCPP 2.0.1 support for the Point 2. Those are useful communication capabilities, but they do not establish that this AC charger contains bidirectional power electronics or can join a certified UK export service without other hardware. Treat “V2G-ready” as the manufacturer's future-facing label, not as a no-upgrade promise. The UK V2G explainer sets out the car, charger, service and network pieces that still have to align.

EcoPilot — the app's tariff automation — aims at the same job as the Ohme Home Pro's direct API link, with claimed support for Intelligent Go, Agile, and other time-of-use tariffs. A built-in 4G eSIM provides lifetime-free cellular, a MID-certified meter gives legally accurate readings, and the 5-year warranty is above average. The catch: NexBlue is a newer brand with less UK track record than Ohme, myenergi, or Tesla. The hardware looks right; the reliability story is still being written.

Best for: Buyers who want MID metering, broad protocol support and tariff automation in a compact untethered unit, and who accept the shorter UK track record.

Installation

Fitting the NexBlue Point 2.

One of the lightest mounts in this selection at 2.1 kg, 235 × 230 × 107 mm — only the Easee One at 1.5 kg is lighter. Untethered: no cable on the wall, bring your own Type 2. The included CT clamp on the meter tails handles both dynamic load balancing and solar surplus charging — no separate hardware purchase required. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and built-in 4G eSIM for connectivity; the installer doesn't have to think about Wi-Fi reach. No built-in RCD or SPD; both added at the consumer unit. Tariff compatibility

What it costs to run.

EcoPilot automates charging against smart tariffs, with claimed support for Octopus Agile, Intelligent Go, Go and similar time-of-use setups. The MID-certified meter is intended for suitable billing and workplace reimbursement. OCPP 2.0.1 supports newer third-party platform features where the chosen platform implements them. Neither claim proves access to a future V2G settlement service. Whether EcoPilot's day-to-day operation matches Ohme's established supplier integrations remains to be seen as the product matures. How it compares.

Against the Zaptec Go 2: both publish modern communication support and MID metering; NexBlue adds the solar CT clamp and EcoPilot, while Zaptec has the longer UK install history. Against the Ohme Home Pro: NexBlue publishes OCPP 2.0.1, but Ohme's supplier integration is the established benchmark. Against the Wallbox Quasar 2: do not confuse protocol readiness with bidirectional DC hardware. The remaining uncertainty is reliability because NexBlue has a shorter UK record.
