EO Mini Pro 3 — product shot

The smallest proper home charger on the UK market — roughly the footprint of an A5 sheet of paper at 215 × 140 × 100 mm and 2.5 kg. If wall space is the constraint, or if you simply don't want a visible box on the side of the house, this is the unit that fits. Shorter overall than any other charger in this selection; smaller even than the Wallbox Pulsar Max, itself the size of a hardback book.

Despite the form factor, it isn't under-featured. A CT clamp for solar diversion comes in the box. And it's the only charger here with an Ethernet port alongside Wi-Fi and Bluetooth — useful in garages where the router signal gives up at the door. A second quiet win: the British Gas-branded Hive version of the same unit credits 25% of your EV charging spend back if you're on British Gas EV Power+. A structural discount, not a smart-tariff trick.

The software story has changed, and it is the thing to understand before buying. EO is retiring its own app and moving owners onto ev.energy, a third-party smart-charging platform. The hardware is unaffected; the app you will actually use is not the one EO's older marketing describes.

Best for: Installations where wall space is the constraint. British Gas customers who can pair the charger with the Hive Power+ cashback.

Installation

Fitting the EO Mini Pro 3.

Built for tight spots. 215 × 140 × 100 mm, 2.5 kg — second-lightest in this selection after the Easee One. Fits on narrow garage walls, in recesses between pipes, or beside doorways where a Hypervolt or Andersen would intrude. Standard 5-metre tethered cable; an untethered version is also available. The CT clamp for solar goes on the meter tails during the standard install. The Ethernet port is a real advantage when Wi-Fi is unreliable at the mounting position — garages with metal doors or thick walls usually qualify. An optional 4G module is available for truly awkward locations. No built-in RCD or SPD; both added at the consumer unit. IP54 — fine for sheltered positions, the lowest rating in this selection alongside the Tesla, Wallbox, and Andersen. Full walkthrough in our install guide.

Tariff compatibility

What it costs to run.

Scheduling now happens in ev.energy rather than the EO app, which EO is winding down and migrating its owners away from. The job is the same — set the off-peak window for a two-rate tariff like Octopus Go or EDF GoElectric, and the charger draws during it — but the platform, the account and the support route all change hands, and anyone buying on the strength of the old EO app should know it is on the way out. There is still no direct supplier API, so no automatic chase of Octopus Agile half-hours or extra Intelligent Go slots; that's the Ohme Home Pro's territory. The more interesting tariff story is the Hive Power+ cashback: buy the British Gas-branded version, run the British Gas EV Power+ tariff, and get 25% of your EV charging spend credited back. Vs Zappi GLO: the Zappi's Eco+ handles surplus solar more sophisticatedly than the EO's schedule-plus-CT-clamp; the EO is much smaller. Against the Wallbox Pulsar Max for pure size: the Wallbox is slightly narrower but taller, the EO is shorter overall — which fits depends on your specific wall. Vs Hypervolt: £102 more buys 10-metre cable options and IP66/IK10 build, but a much larger box.
